Photo 1. My best photo EVER!!!

I took this photo years ago and I still love it! I love that the Ivy is in focus and the people aren’t. I love the relationship/connection between nature and people and between adult and child. Us and the intricate detail that is around us as we walk past.
Photo 2. Such potential if it wasn’t for lack of technical know how!

I love lions! I’m looking at him with bear hugs in mind while he is looking at me with ‘Mmmm! Yum, steak on only 2 legs!’ But you can’t tell because his eye is out of focus. There probably wasn’t enough time to fiddle much with the camera anyway but maybe there are some simple quick things that you can do and some hints like when there are eyes in the photo make sure they are in focus….things you don’t think about until you are critiquing your own photos or when staring into the face of a lion up close. Of the 17 photo’s I took the focus was either not in the right place…..the wire didn’t help…or because the background was quite bright it meant the front of the lion was often plunged into darkness and I wasn’t able to get his lovely colourings.
Photo 3, 4 and 5 Things I like
Making things for the house using wood

I enjoy finding something I like and think I may be able to find a way to make it myself. This stool is one of two I made. I like surprising myself at how relatively well some of my creations end up. I tried capturing the grain and variations of the timber but it was hard to get both the side profile and the top nice and clear.
My Garden

I Love my garden, flowers, birds, bees and anything that bears fruit. Now that I zoomed in on the boys eyes I noticed all the cobwebs…oh well..all part of being in the garden. I filled him with water hoping to capture birds bathing in it but sadly that will have to be for another time. I used a remote trigger and tried to have his face fully focused. Would like to have tried to see what it looks like with the background a little more blurry but wasn’t able to make that happen.
Our Cosy Corner

I took sooooo many photo’s trying to get my photos right. This still doesn’t capture it and all of them the focus wouldn’t do what I wanted it to. I took this one when the sun was shining into that room to give it a warm glow to highlight the amazing warm, cosy corner this is. This is a bit of a pride corner….the flowers out of my garden, the Blackheart Sassafrass candle stick a school project from our daughter, the stool is my Blackwood with Pine Inlay but you can’t see its beauty with it being one of many things in the room. The storage bench seat I made for there and turned out to be a favoured spot in the house by all. Painting is not my forte but I thought I could do some stick figure stone art….and voila!! I made the frames as well. All of these are my firsts so not only a comfy corner but one I am very proud of but I could not do them justice in the photo. It truly looks far more amazing when you step into the room.
